Lukaku was taken off after 27 minutes of his team’s 4-1 loss against the Netherlands in the Nations League encounter in Brussels.
He was injured during a collision with defender Nathan Ake.
Michy Batshuayi of Chelsea scored a consolation goal for Belgium late in the game.
Because the club season is over, there isn’t really an international “break,” but even a pseudo-break wouldn’t be complete without players getting injured. And we didn’t have to wait long over this two-week period of largely Nations League pseudo-friendlies, with Romelu Lukaku leaving today’s play against the Netherlands with what appeared to be a twisted ankle (or some form of a lower leg injury).
To add salt to injury, Belgium‘s neighbors defeated them 4-1, with Chelsea loanee Michy Batshuayi scoring a late consolation in stoppage time to make the scoreline a little less embarrassing for the full-strength home side.
