Last season, CRISTIANO RONALDO had a good season with Manchester United.
A five-time title winner has discounted Erling Haaland‘s chances of winning the Golden Boot in his first season in the Premier League. Instead, Cristiano Ronaldo is tipped to educate Manchester City‘s “new pup” that the “old dog” still has life in him.
Between 1999 and 2008, Mikael Silvestre won the Premier League five times, and he was a teammate of Ronaldo’s when he initially broke into the league as a teenager.
As a Manchester United player, he has heard all the commotion surrounding the latest Etihad recruit, who was purchased for £51.2 million from Borussia Dortmund.
In just 67 Bundesliga games, the 21-year-old scored 61 goals and is the 4-1 favorite to win the Golden Boot in his debut season.
With Haaland also enjoying a complete break during the World Cup as a result of Norway’s failure to qualify, the odds appear to be stacked in his favor.
But isn’t having any of it. Last season’s prize was shared by Mo Salah and Heung-Min Son, who both scored 23 goals, although Ronaldo came in third with 18 goals.
And, as Silvester pointed out, this occurred during a season of instability at Old Trafford, which included a change of managers and the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League for the second year in a row.
“Haaland, to win the Golden Boot?” Silvestre wondered. I’d rather see Cristiano win. Last season, he was not far off with a dysfunctional club, so why not this season if United works? Teach the young puppy that the old dog still has life!
