Chelsea, Newcastle, and Aston Villa have all expressed interest in Nathan Ake, but Manchester City has informed him that he is free to find a new club this summer.
According to a Man City insider who spoke to Football Insider, Pep Guardiola wants to sign a replacement before letting Ake leave the Etihad Stadium. However, the Manchester club will sell Ake.
Ake played 27 games for the Citizens last season in all competitions and has a contract with City through 2025. Since joining the team from Bournemouth in 2020, the 27-year-old has been a valuable asset for Guardiola because the Dutch international can play both left-back and center-back, as he demonstrated in Manchester.
Newcastle United and Chelsea, Ake’s old team, are reportedly the two primary parties interested in signing him this summer. Sven Botman, who recently joined Newcastle from Lille, might play with his countryman in Eddie Howe’s squad next year.
With regard to Chelsea, the Blues are in need of center-backs this summer, and Fabrizio Romano has informed CaughtOffside that Thomas Tuchel prioritizes signing Matthijs de Light. Ake might team up with a fellow Dutchman at his old club once more, but it is unclear which one.
