Cristiano Ronaldo, the wanted forward for Manchester United, appears to have broken the ice about his future at the team by posting a workout photo while wearing United gear.
In an Instagram image with the hashtag ‘HARD WORK’ as he gets ready for another season, the Portuguese star, who is renowned for being committed to keeping his physique, was wearing United’s training shorts from the previous year.
He has previously revealed he wants to leave the club after yet another disappointing season without a trophy, but his latest post may suggest an agreement has been found at Old Trafford for the club icon to stay.
New manager Erik ten Hag is adamant that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is still in his plans for next season, saying this week: ‘We are planning for Cristiano Ronaldo for the season and that’s it.
I’m looking forward to working with him. Cristiano is not for sale. He is in our plans and we want success together
‘I spoke with him before this issue came up. I had a conversation with him and I had a good talk. That is between Cristiano and me.’
Ronaldo has asked to leave United, who will be playing Europa League football in the season ahead, should the right offer come in and he isn’t on their pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia after being granted compassionate leave for personal reasons.
Ronaldo had previously been linked with a sensational switch to Premier League rivals Chelsea, having made the announcement he wanted to exit the Red Devils.
New Blues owner Todd Boehly was open to the move, however, after discussions with German manager Thomas Tuchel, the club officially ended their interest in Ronaldo, with Tuchel reportedly more focused on the team than the individual.
