According to a new report on Wednesday evening, Tottenham Hotspur now faces even greater competition in the quest for Memphis Depay in the form of Manchester United.
On August 11, the Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport reported that Spurs had approached the Netherlands international about moving to North London.
And with Depay having received an offer from an undisclosed London club to join them for about £200,000 per week, the Tottenham gossip has only grown.
However, Marca in Spain is saying that Manchester United, who had him on their books as a younger kid, is interested in signing the Barcelona attacker.
The report adds that the Red Devils would be willing to offer him around £162,000 per week to come to the Theatre of Dreams.
This past weekend, Fabrizio Romano revealed that he had already agreed on a deal with Barcelona to terminate his contract in Catalunya.
However, Juventus are also said to be in the reckoning.
Even if they are a true threat to Tottenham’s bid to recruit Depay, Manchester United, one of football’s most powerful clubs, is unquestionably a challenge to the Lilywhites.
However, the 28-year-old only scored two goals in 33 Premier League games during his previous tenure with United, and he may be looking for a new type of challenge in the division, potentially providing Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici an advantage.
