Anthony Elanga is one of 40 players who have been nominated for the Golden Boy award.
Tuttosport runs the award, with a slew of journalists voting throughout the year for the best under-21 player in Europe’s top flight leagues.
Starting with a 100-player list in the summer, it was reduced to 40 after two rounds of voting.
Elanga is one of the brightest prospects to make it past the first round of voting, joining 39 other highly regarded youngsters on the prestigious list.
The 20-year-old enjoyed somewhat of a breakout period during Ralf Rangnick’s interim period last season, culminating in his memorable goal away to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
Erik ten Hag has also shown faith in him this season, and in response, The Sweden international has delivered some key performances for the Reds, including a standout display in our 2-1 win over Liverpool last month.
Our winger is joined by a prestigious company on the list, too, with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, and Jamal Musiala also among the nominees.
The final 20 players for the last round of voting are set to be announced next month, and United supporters will no doubt be eagerly waiting to see if Elanga makes the shortlist.
