most recent Leicester City transfer news City is reportedly interested in Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic.
In the summer, Leicester City was supposedly ‘offered’ Croatian World Cup star Dominik Livakovic.
The Dinamo Zagreb goalkeeper has emerged as one of the tournament’s standouts, saving three penalties to help Japan advance to the round of 16, as well as denying Rodrygo’s penalty kick in the Croats’ quarter-final shootout victory over Brazil.
Livakovic emerged as a possible replacement for Kasper Schmeichel after the Dane sealed a summer move to French side OGC Nice.
According to The Athletic, the 27-year-old was ‘offered’ to Leicester for a fee of between £4m and £9m, but they instead signed Alex Smithies on a free transfer as a backup to Danny Ward and Daniel Iverson.
Nottingham Forest also turned down the chance to sign Livakovic. According to The Athletic, Forest was ‘near’ to concluding a €6 million (£5 million) deal before bringing in Dean Henderson on loan from United to replace Brice Samba.
Livakovic’s World Cup heroics have sparked interest from many European teams, with his contract set to expire in 2024. And Dinamo appears to be willing to sell if the price is right. Livakovic has made 262 club appearances and has kept 122 clean sheets.
