Manchester United is keeping an eye on Benfica prodigy Cher Ndour’s improvement and will compete for his signature next summer.
Manchester United has been linked with Benfica midfielder Cher Ndour, according to the Mirror. The 18-year-old has recently made some significant advances, and the Red Devils are interested in signing him.
The midfield needs to be rebuilt in particular, since players like Fred are anticipated to leave the club when his contract expires next summer. United signed Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in the summer to solve their midfield issues, but they still need some help in the middle of the field.
The Brescia-born midfielder was discovered by Atalanta but Benfica soon came calling for him as he moved to Portugal to play for Benfica B. The midfielder is yet to appear for the senior team but has the prospect of being one of the most promising young players in the future.
The midfielder has been likened to former United playmaker Paul Pogba who similarly came through the United youth system before leaving for Italy. The 18-year-old can work the ball pretty effectively and could be the creator to unlock the opponent’s defense.
The midfielder happens to have the same agent as Bruno Fernandes and his entourage has already sanctioned a move to Old Trafford. His contract will expire next summer, and he will not likely extend his stay beyond the current campaign.
United already have had some brilliant talents with the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Zidane Iqbal emerging out of their program and the Italian prodigy might follow the trend.
To be eligible for the rugged English football, he will have to go through a rigorous process at United’s legendary academy. The Manchester club will have other conditions to fulfill in the winter window, so a summer move might be in the works.
Barcelona and Juventus are also keeping tabs on his growth, and a three-way struggle for the player next summer is possible. The teenager could spark a bidding battle, but United will pursue him more aggressively.
