Chelsea is attempting to sign Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang today and has sent a private plane to bring him to London in case a deal is reached late.
The Blues are looking for a striker and have identified the former Arsenal captain as the ideal choice to lead the line, having scored nine goals in 11 games for the Catalan giants since his January arrival.
Chelsea has been in talks with Barcelona for the striker and even proposed a cash plus player deal that would have seen Marcos Alonso move other way but the Spanish club is said to only want a cash deal.
Another reason that slowed the move was an injury the striker suffered to his jaw after he was attacked by armed robbers in his home, leaving him with a broken jaw that will require weeks to heal.
Barcelona has signed a host of stars this summer and is willing to sell Aubameyang who only joined last winter but has been a massive hit with his performances on the field.
The arrival of Robert Lewandowski has however complicated his position and move back to London, where he still owns a home and was very successful during his time with Arsenal is one that excites him.
Chelsea has lost two of their last three Premier League matches and even though Raheem Sterling has scored three in the last two games, there is the need for Chelsea to get a proper number nine who can guarantee goals and threats.
