Cristiano Ronaldo stated that he wanted to be a part of the idea of giving his fans new experiences through NFTs.
Cristiano Ronaldo, a soccer legend, and cryptocurrency exchange Binance have agreed to an exclusive multi-year nonfungible token (NFT) collaboration. Through international NFT initiatives, the cooperation intends to introduce soccer fans to the Web3 environment.
Ronaldo and Binance will work together to create a number of NFT collections, according to the release made to Cointelegraph. The first collection will be released later this year, and these will only be sold on the Binance NFT platform.
Ronaldo has achieved great things in soccer, and Binance CEO and founder Changpeng Zhao noted that the athlete has “transcended sport to become an icon in multiple industries.” Moreover, Zhao stated:
Through his genuineness, talent, and charitable activities, he has established one of the most devoted fan groups in the world.
As owners of NFT collections, Zhao continued, the Binance team is thrilled to provide Ronaldo fans “unique interaction opportunities to connect with Ronaldo.” The soccer legend also spoke about the future NFT releases, predicting that fans will love them. Ronaldo added the following:
“My relationship with the fans is really important to me, so I wanted to be a part of the idea of giving unique experiences and access through this NFT platform.”
Ronaldo received cryptocurrency tokens for his sporting accomplishments back in March. For each senior career goal the soccer player scored, he received JUV tokens, the club’s official fan token.
