Cristiano Ronaldo‘s future has dominated headlines in recent weeks, and the 37-year-old is unlikely to return to Manchester United training anytime soon.
Ronaldo requested to leave the club early this summer, and despite being due to practice at Carrington at the start of this month, he has been training in Portugal.
The saga surrounding Ronaldo’s future has reportedly attracted interest from Atletico Madrid and now, Fabrizio Romano, the transfer expert, has provided an update on the situation.
Romano has explained that Atletico Madrid is one of the sides Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has held talks with Diego Simeone’s sides currently have priorities elsewhere, as seen below.
“At the moment Atletico Madrid is among many clubs who spoke to Jorge Mendes,” Romano said on his YouTube channel, via Planet Football.
“But still nothing close, nothing progressing, still no bid, so it’s just a conversation. At the moment, Atletico Madrid is busy with different topics.
“For example, they want a new right-back. They have to do many things and so the moment for Ronaldo had a conversation with Mendes to speak about many things. Mendes is one of the best agents in the world with many clients, but nothing imminent for Cristiano Ronaldo to Atletico as of today.
“The situation for Cristiano Ronaldo is still up in the air.”
