Despite interest from Chelsea and Al-Hilal, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis claims Victor Osimhen will not be leaving the club.
- Osimhen has had proposals from Al-Hilal rejected.
- Forward rumoured to be of interest to Chelsea and Man United
- President of Napoli has announced his intention to remain in his position.
SO, WHAT HAPPENED? Napoli turned down a $154 million offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal for their star striker in late July. His current contract, which runs until 2025, hasn’t been renewed despite the 24-year-old’s interest from Chelsea and Manchester United. Napoli president De Laurentiis has denied reports that the Nigerian international will be leaving the club.
WHAT THEY SAID: He told Sky Sport in Italy, “Osimhen is staying, he still has two years on his deal. Which way should he turn? Because this is a two-way street, both parties are bound by the contracts at all times.
Osimhen reportedly has a market value of over €150 million (£129 million/$165 million) after scoring 31 goals in 39 appearances for the Italian club last season, helping them to win Serie A for the first time in 33 years.
NOW WHAT? Napoli’s season kicks out on August 19 against Frosinone, and rumours have it that contract talks with Osimhen are still underway.
