The team is currently linked to winger Nico Williams, who now plays for Athletic Bilbao.
His brother Inaki Williams was once a target of interest from the Reds, but a deal ever materialized. Now, the Reds have their sights set on the promising young winger.
Liverpool’s frontline has recently seen a re-rejuvenation with Sadio Mane, Divock Origi, and Takumi Minamino all leaving this summer and Williams could certainly be a smart move for the future.
Liverpool has actually been linked with a move in the past, but reports today in Spain have revealed the Reds have been linked with the winger once again.
According to AS, the Reds have been closely monitoring the 20-year-old talent and he currently has a release clause of €50m which could tempt Liverpool.
The winger is still making his name in Spain and isn’t ready for a big club yet, but clearly, the talent and potential are there for a big club to sign him in a season or two.
His manager described him as ‘fast’ and a player you like to watch’.
From what he has demonstrated thus far at Bilbao, he is a direct and extremely speedy winger.
In that regard, he resembles a Jurgen Klopp attacking player, yet in 34 games in La Liga, he has failed to score.
Although he will need to develop that aspect of his game, there are already plenty of examples showing his ability to pick up the ball deep, dash at opponents, and use both feet.
Before any sort of high-profile move can be made, there is still a lot of growth to be done, but Williams is definitely someone to watch.
