After sealing the acquisitions of Christian Eriksen and Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez over the weekend, Manchester United made significant progress toward rebuilding their roster. The pair join Tyrell Malacia, who arrived in the northwest this summer.
Although there is a lot of anticipation for their arrival, the Red Devils will continue to look for other deals over the coming weeks. Recent sources claim that United are “expressing interest” in a Nice player and that Donny van de Beek has “been offered” to AC Milan as part of a player swap as they search for a better player.
Manchester United have already wrapped up the signings of defensive duo Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez this summer but they could well be on their way to getting another defender through the door before the new season if reports are to be believed.
According to Var-Matin, via Sport Witness, United is showing an interest in Nice center-back Jean-Clair Todibo and the 22-year-old is being widely tipped to seal a move to the Premier League this summer, following an impressive campaign in France.
Todibo featured 40 times last season as Nice finished fifth in Ligue 1 and qualified for Europe, but after only arriving on a permanent transfer from Barcelona one year ago, it will take a large sum of money for the French club to consider parting with one of their star players.
However, with the Scott McTominay and Fred already starting ahead of the Dutchman, coupled with the arrival of Christian Eriksen this summer, there are still doubts over whether Van De Beek has a future in the northwest, and reports are now suggesting that he could be offered to AC Milan as part of a swap-deal.
According to Calciomercato, United is said to be interested in signing AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer this summer, who is valued at around €45 million, and the Red Devils are hoping that offering Van de Beek as part of the deal could help to lower the price.
