This Saturday, when Manchester United Football Club plays Atletico Madrid, Erik ten Hag is attempting to get one last glimpse at his players before the main work begins the following week.
According to rumors, United will start with a better lineup against Atleti before Rayo Vallecano visits Old Trafford on Sunday.
The ultimate test of how far United has advanced under Ten Hag thus far will come in this matchup against a team that plays hard for the entire 90 minutes. Obviously, match fitness is more important than the final outcome. But winning always boosts confidence.
Check out our predicted MUFC XI vs Atletico Madrid in full here:
David de Gea will start in between the sticks, with the Spaniard making a final push to assert himself as the firm number one going into the campaign.
Diogo Dalot seems to have taken complete charge of the right-back role under Ten Hag. Over on the left, Tyrell Malacia will be continuing his assault on Luke Shaw’s position. I believe going into the campaign, Harry Maguire (C) and Lisandro Martinez will be the starting pairing. It makes complete sense to see how they perform together in this one.
Fred will continue because of his strong preseason performance. Ideally, with James Garner, who hasn’t had much of a chance to play frequently at this point.
The front four are unaltered as Cristiano Ronaldo‘s future is still uncertain. Up top, Bruno Fernandes has displayed tremendous talent, while Anthony Martial is sitting just behind him. Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford, who are to the right and left of them, have both been doing well.
