Manager Erik ten Hag stated that if he did not perform, the armband would not keep him in the starting XI. Maguire is now concerned that it will jeopardize his World Cup chances with England later this year. According to the Mirror, clubs may “try to exploit the uncertainty” surrounding Maguire, and Chelsea has already expressed interest in the 29-year-old.
A few reports recently insisted Manchester United could consider a sale of the defender, probably in January. A few suitors could be lining up a move but his price tag may prove problematic.
Some stories insisted Manchester United could demand around €30 million for the player they once signed in a world record deal. He remains at Old Trafford and is steadily starting games for England in Qatar.
*TEDEN MENGI
Teden Mengi, a Manchester United youth player, has told the club’s media that he would accept a January loan move if one were made.
The 20-year-old, who was not part of Erik ten Hag’s touring group for Tour 22, only recently returned from injury.
Mengi has started the last six games for United’s Under-21s across all competitions after coming off the bench in the EFL Trophy penalty shootout loss to League One side Fleetwood Town during the group stage of the competition.
*PHIL JONES
“It’s possible that Phil Jones has played his last game for Manchester United. It’s likely that he will be allowed to quietly leave in the summer when his contract expires.”
“Potential moves for Phil Jones during the summer were scuppered because of a lack of fitness and, with no timescale put on his return, Erik ten Hag decided it didn’t make sense to register him in the squads.”
