Cody Gakpo of PSV Eindhoven is now willing to accept a transfer offer from Manchester United, according to Fabrizio Romano. Following their recent 2-1 triumph over Liverpool, the Red Devils intend to strengthen their forward line.
The Dutch forward has made up his mind about accepting the proposal that the Manchester side have planned for him as the possibility of playing under Erik ten Hag attracts him. But now, they are going to have to play the waiting game as United looks into some other transfers.
Gakpo and his representatives are now waiting for the Red Devils to put in an official offer and convince PSV to sell him. The Dutch international is valued at around £35 million, which United must agree to pay in order to move forward with the deal and get it done before the end of the summer transfer window. For now, however, it seems they are more interested in getting over the line in their pursuit of Ajax winger Antony.
Ten Hag’s current objective, according to Romano, is to reconcile with his ex-Ajax player Antony, who has recently begun to skip his side’s training sessions in order to push through a trade. The Brazilian forward might cost United up to £80 million, which the club is apparently willing to spend.
But that doesn’t mean Manchester City will abandon their chase of Gakpo. They are apparently eager to sign both him and the Ajax star to bolster their offensive line and offer more goal-scoring and creative danger.
The PSV forward is highly-rated in the Netherlands and was dubbed as a ‘constantly threatening’ player last season. He scored 21 goals and provided 15 assists for his side in the previous campaign and has already got seven goal contributions in six games so far this season.
