As a result of the president of La Liga’s recent remarks, Man United will not be happy.
Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United should go back to Spain, according to La Liga’s president.
One of the main topics of conversation at United this transfer window has been the future of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. Before meeting with Erik ten Hag to discuss his future at United, Ronaldo and his agent Jorge Mendes were seen driving into Carrington on Tuesday.
Ronaldo missed the club’s four exhibition games while on its preseason tour of Thailand and Australia, citing family obligations. Ten Hag hasn’t used Ronaldo yet, but the Dutchman was confident that the forward would be part of his plans.
Speaking during the tour, Ten Hag said: “We are planning for Cristiano Ronaldo for the season and that’s it and I’m looking forward to working with him. I have read but what I say is Cristiano is not for sale.
The most recent information, however, comes from La Liga, whose president, Javier Tebas, has spoken out on where he wants Ronaldo to play football in the upcoming season.
Tebas said: “I would like to see Cristiano Ronaldo in La Liga again. Whether it is feasible or not for Atletico Madrid, I do not know. There would have to be some player departures if they wanted to [sign him]. To sign a player of that level, you must make room [financially].”
