Laird was one of the athletes who returned to Carrington on Monday as preseason workouts under new boss Erik ten Hag got underway. The 20-year-old, along with some of his fellow academy grads, was one of the 28 people participating in the Dutchman’s first session in charge.

The defender announced his arrival back to Carrington by sharing a photo of himself at the practice field on Instagram with the message “I’m back.” And he was welcomed by several of his teammates.
