Manchester United are considering a big-money move for Newcastle United player Bruno Guimaraes, who they want to be their focal point in the midfield.
According to Football Transfers, Manchester United are interested in signing Bruno Guimaraes and would like to do so next summer. The Red Devils are set to make more changes next summer, and the midfield enforcer might be one of the prominent entrants.
Erik ten Hag remained locked in a transfer battle for Frenkie de Jong for almost the entire summer as the Dutch manager wanted to rebuild the squad around the Dutch midfielder.
But the Barcelona midfielder decided to stay at Camp Nou and vowed to fight for his place. United shifted their attention to other targets and secured the services of Casemiro from Real Madrid in an unprecedented move.
The arrival of Christian Eriksen from Brentford on a free transfer also strengthened their midfield but the club wants to invest in young and versatile midfielders who could further develop the core of the team.
The likes of Fred and Scott McTominay are being touted to leave the club sooner or later as the manager wants quality players at his disposal. Guimaraes has turned Newcastle into a potential title challenger this season since his arrival from Lyon last January.
Guimaraes put pen to paper on a five-year deal but his form prompted the club to take note of his contractual situation and they might offer better wages to fend off suitors.
United are believed to be ready with a purse of £70 million as the management is eyeing at least one midfielder in the summer as they will push for the Premier League title challenge next season.
Newcastle is currently in fourth place in the Premier League and if they somehow miss a Champions League spot they will be flooded with offers for the 24-year-old.
The midfielder has also been named in the World Cup squad and a good display in the middle of the pitch would further solidify United’s attention.
