Portugal’s head coach, Fernando Santos, has stated that Cristiano Ronaldo remains an important member of the national team, despite his reduced playing time at Manchester United this season.
On Thursday, Ronaldo was called up to the squad for Nations League matches against the Czech Republic on September 24 and Spain on September 27.
“I have no concerns about Cristiano Ronaldo‘s lack of playing time for Manchester United.”
“As with any player, I need to figure out what his situation is.”
“But I don’t think anyone has any doubts that Ronaldo continues to be of great importance to the national team,” Santos said.
Ronaldo tried and failed to force a move away from Old Trafford this summer, as he sought to play in the Champions League.
