Roma was interested in Manchester United defender Eric Bailly, but it appears that they were outbid by their previous director Monchi and Sevilla.
According to The Sun, Bailly is more likely to accept a loan transfer to Sevilla than re-join Jose Mourinho, the coach who first brought him to Old Trafford in 2016.
Bailly had little action for Manchester United last season and has fallen even further down the pecking order since the acquisition of Lisandro Martinez from Ajax.

Mourinho had named the Ivory Coast international as a potential reinforcement this summer, but it seems as if he has been beaten to the player by former Roma director of sport Monchi, who is now back at Sevilla.
Milan had also been mentioned as potentially showing an interest in Bailly on loan, as his contract with Manchester United runs to June 2024.
It would be a return to Spain, where the 28-year-old spent most of his career at Espanyol and Villarreal.
