Sir Alex Ferguson travels to complete talks to sign the best, youngest, and most talented striker
Manchester United have reportedly confirmed their intention to make a bid for one of Brazil’s most promising young players.
The 16-year-old has made a name for himself with Palmeiras after scoring seven goals in as many games for his club earlier this year during their successful Copa Sao Paolo de Futbol Junior tournament.
His domestic form led to international recognition and the youngster made an instant impression, scoring five goals in four games as the Brazil Under-17s won the prestigious Montaigu Tournament with a 2-1 win over Argentina in April.
Comparisons with Brazilian legends Ronaldo and Romario have been made in recent months and the youngster has attracted scouts from some of European football’s elite.
But one Brazilian journalist has identified Selecao legends of the past and present as an example that Endrick could follow when he makes the breakthrough into the senior setup with club and country.
Speaking last year, he told News TVS 24: “Everything indicates that he’s (Endrick) going to be a phenomenon, he’s going to be a phenomenon like Neymar and like other players that Brazilian football has had.
“It’s always good to remember that at the age of 15 Pelé was already playing for Santos’ professional team and at 16 he was world champion.”
Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan, Barcelona, and Real Madrid have all maintained a watching brief on Endrick and are reportedly keen to offer him an early chance to test himself in Europe.
But it is interest from three Premier League clubs – including United – that has hit the headlines in recent days.
Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola has named the Red Devils, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United as interested parties and indicated the Premier League trio have ‘promised bids in the not very distant future.
Nicola goes on to state Real Madrid has ‘never stopped monitoring’ the youngster and revealed Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain ‘seem like the favorites to secure his signature should he be allowed to depart Palmeiras over the coming months.
