Tyrell Malacia, a Dutchman who has had a busy week, is the first summer signing for Manchester United Football Club.
The left defender Before the Dutchman gets ready to board a flight to Bangkok with the rest of the team later today, Malacia was spotted for the first time yesterday during preseason workouts.
Malacia’s hectic week went on to include United revealing the jersey number he will don in the 2022–23 campaign.
Malacia has reportedly been given the number 12 jersey, which was last worn by Chris Smalling before his transfer to AS Roma, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Malacia, albeit an unknown quantity, will be welcomed with open arms by our supporters. After all, we’re desperate for a major squad overhaul and the 22-year-old is the first signing of hopefully many.
I’m definitely intrigued by the prospect of what he can offer, particularly as Luke Shaw continues to blow hot and cold.
If Malacia impresses on tour, starting with a game against Liverpool next week, there’s no reason why he cannot make that left-back position his own. That said, if the Dutchman needs time to settle into his new surroundings, the club is in an excellent position to remain patient.
The fact that Erik ten Hag has watched this kid in the flesh on numerous occasions definitely leaves me feeling excited. Our new Dutch boss feels like this guy is perfect for his system and style, particularly if the video below is anything to go by
Malacia should hopefully be able to settle in quickly, feel at home in his new house, and enjoy his new dressing room right away. I’m really excited about this business deal, so let’s hope it works out for us!
