Alejandro Garnacho was named Manchester United man of the match against Rayo Vallecano in an overwhelming fan vote.
Manchester United supporters voted via the club website and app for the best player in the 1-1 draw, after a lively performance.
Garnacho was congratulated by Erik ten Hag after coming off late in the game on his first pre-season match for the Red Devils.
After seeing Garnacho dazzle for United in the FA Youth Cup, it was a delight to see him reproduce the same confident style at a first-team level, and stand up to the physical test too.
Garnacho received an overwhelming percentage of the supporter vote, winning the man of the match award by a landslide.
- Alejandro Garnacho (48%)
- Amad (11%)
- Ethan Laird, Christian Eriksen, Cristiano Ronaldo (8%)
- Lisandro Martinez (7%)
- Seven other players also picked up votes of 2 percent and 1 percent.Garnacho’s overwhelming win shows the excitement his performance generated. Whenever he received the ball he was direct and tried to make something happen, and his little burst of pace and speed really makes him difficult for opponents to deal with.
He looked at home playing at a first-team level, and while it’s a little bit of a shame we haven’t seen more of him this pre-season, it was great to see him seize his opportunity when it came along.
Garnacho also impressed the man who matters most, manager Erik ten Hag. He told the club website: “He is just a teenager but his performance was really good.”
