According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Manchester United must pay €60 million to sign Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan.
Last summer, the Red Devils were connected with Netherlands international amid reports that they were looking for a new right-back.
The club’s management ultimately decided against signing one, although they may reconsider when the transfer window reopens in the new year.
Dumfries has long been a goal for United, but it has been rumored that Inter will not trade him for less than €60 million in the upcoming transfer window.
The Nerazzurri are willing to let go of the ‘explosive’ right-back. They intend to utilize the monies to sign Giorgio Scalvini of Atalanta and Yunus Musah of Valencia.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka was expected to leave Manchester United in the summer, but football director John Murtough decided to keep him as Diogo Dalot’s understudy.
The decision was not worthwhile. Dalot has started 20 of United’s 21 games this season, while Wan-Bissaka has only played four competitive minutes.
It has been suggested that he might be loaned out ahead of January, but we simply do not see United spending €60 million to bring in Dumfries as his potential replacement.
United have been linked with another right-back for some time, but their priorities may have shifted following Cristiano Ronaldo‘s free transfer exit.
The club must now concentrate on improving its assault. As a result, the funds may be divided this winter, and United may seek a low-cost acquisition.
Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong and Norwich City’s Max Aarons are more realistic options. The duo is also younger than Dumfries and would provide more value for money.
