Maya Le Tissier, a fullback, has been acquired by Manchester United from Brighton.
Le Tissier, one of the WSL’s top young English players, has committed to United for three years, through the summer of 2025.
She still had one year left on her Brighton contract, and rumors indicate Manchester United has agreed to activate a release clause that is somewhere around £60,000.
Le Tissier earned her senior debut for the Seagulls in 2018, despite only turning 20 in April. The athlete, a Guernsey native, has played for England at several youth international levels.
United have seen two full-backs leave the club since the end of last season, with Martha Harris landing with Championship club Birmingham and Kirsty Smith now at West Ham.
Before Le Tissier’s arrival was confirmed, Ona Batlle and Hannah Blundell were the only remaining specialized full-backs from last season’s first-team squad.
United has until now prioritized attacking targets in the transfer market, securing deals for Canada international Adriana Leon and WSL veteran Rachel Williams. Teenage midfielder Grace Clinton has joined from Everton, while a deal for Nikita Parris is believed to be close.
