Raphael Varane had a difficult first season at Manchester United, as he struggled to remain fit for the duration of the season.
Last season, the 29-year-old made just 22 Premier League appearances and is desperate for a better second season, with Erik ten Hag likely to regard the France international as a key part of his rehabilitation.
The former Real Madrid player has spoken to Manchester United’s official website about his preparations for the upcoming season and his excitement for a ‘fresh start.’
“Everyone is excited to learn about the new manager since it’s a new season, a new start,” he remarked. “Obviously, we want to do well and win every game, so we’ll need to prepare for the new season, and I believe it’s critical that we practice hard and be prepared.”
He went on to say, “We want to be ready for the next season.” “We need to work extremely hard, and there will be a lot of training sessions and games, so I believe it will be an exciting and exciting time to work extremely hard and prepare for the season.”
“I suppose (on tour), it’s a different vibe; it’s pre-season, so we have to get in shape and prepare.” It’s always great to play in front of our global supporters; it’s a terrific learning experience for us, and it’s a nice time to get ready for the season.”
Varane had another setback earlier this month when he was substituted in France’s UEFA Nations League match against Denmark, but Ten Hag is hopeful that he will be available as soon as possible.
Pre-season will begin on June 27 with the first set of players returning to United at the end of the month. In July, players who have competed in international matches will return.
Varane isn’t sure which group he belongs to, but one thing is certain: this summer is critical for him, and he can’t afford to get hurt again.
Furthermore, earlier on Saturday, there were optimistic indications that Ten Hag was looking to improve Varane and Harry Maguire‘s combination, with Victor Lindelof considered a capable competitor.
