Donny van de Beek is a player Ten Hag is already familiar with. The two worked together at Ajax, and the Dutch boss has already expressed his delight at the prospect of reuniting with the 25-year-old.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag stated of Van de Beek, “I genuinely had a wonderful relationship with him and, of course, I’m looking forward to meeting him again on the pitch.”
The former Ajax midfielder has offered himself to Jose Mourinho’s Roma ahead of the new season, according to Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, via Sport Witness.
Van van Beek has struggled for minutes during his Manchester United career, and a loan spell at Everton was no better. The Dutchman may be hesitant to return to Old Trafford due to his lack of playing time since joining the club, but a regular berth in the team is possible thanks to his relationship with Ten Hag.
Manchester United’s midfield is already depleted, with Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic both departing this summer, so Van de Beek has a stronger chance than ever to establish his spot in the team.
