Transfer: Man United have submitted a £50.3million+ offer for Liverpool target – Report
In such a scenario, Man Utd is prepared to make De Jong the highest-paid player at the club to make him forget all the reasons stopping him from joining.
De Jong’s current salary is around 30 million euros per season (£485,000 a week) which Barca does not want to pay (Mundo Deportivo).
According to Sport, Man Utd are ready to agree on a contract that will make him earn as much as he earns at Barca (£485,000 a week), moreover, they are also willing to pay him the deferred wages yet to be disbursed by the Spanish side.
The Catalan outlet state that this will be United’s final push to sign the 25-year-old midfielder and if the former Ajax man accepts the deal, he will become the top-grossing player at Old Trafford.
At the moment, United’s highest-earning star is none other than Portuguese international, Cristiano Ronaldo, who takes home around £480,000 a week (The Sun).
Bayern Munich and Chelsea have been linked with De Jong as well. The German champions do not want to fix a problem for Barca and consider the operation too expensive.
On the other hand, the Blues have not made any official proposal as yet and they are not willing to reach the high figures Man Utd is ready to offer.
