Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso wants out. Despite having a successful run and playing frequently this season when Ben Chilwell was injured, he is aware that he is no longer the team’s top choice and naturally wants to leave West London.
According to Mundo Deportivo in his home Spain, he is prepared to submit an official transfer request to facilitate a transfer.
Those mean very little in modern football – we’re not sure they ever meant much at all. It certainly means something if he’s willing to publicly come out and say he wants to leave, but until then it’s all pretty token.
We wait to see whether any of the possibly interested parties take action because it’s not usually the smartest tactical move to put your neck out like that before you know there’s interest.
We won’t take any “transfer requests” seriously until that time.
