Cafu and Roberto Carlos, both Brazilian legends, have rated Son Heung-min higher than Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.
After being overshadowed by Harry Kane during his first few seasons at Tottenham, Son appears to be getting the credit he deserves in recent years.
Last season, the South Korean shared the Golden Boot with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, a feat made even more impressive by the fact that he is not Tottenham’s penalty taker.
On the Footballer’s Football Podcast in May, West Ham star Michail Antonio named the 29-year-old as the best player in the Premier League.
Son will be hoping to lead Tottenham to a trophy as Antonio Conte begins his first full season in charge.
Both Cafu and Carlos were asked to rank the Spurs forward, Salah, and Haaland in order, and both legends chose the former Bayer Leverkusen man ahead of Haaland.
Cafu told UMM, “The first is Mohamed Salah, the second is Son, and the third is Haaland,” before Carlos added, “The first is Mohamed Salah, the second is Son, and the third is Haaland.”
It’s fantastic to see Son in the conversation with the best players in the Premier League. Given how consistently consistent he has been over the last five years, the South Korean certainly deserves the accolades he is receiving.
