Kingsley Coman, a winger for Bayern Munich, has stated that he would like to play in England and Spain at some point in his career.
The 26-year-old has spent the last seven years with the German giants, and his contract was extended in January until the summer of 2027.
Coman, who has previously played for PSG and Juventus, has won a top-flight trophy in each of his ten seasons as a professional player, with last year’s Bundesliga triumph marking his seventh with the Bavarian club.
The France international has become a serial winner, having won 27 major awards in his career, but he is open to competing for new trophies in different nations.
Coman has been connected with teams in both England and Spain, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Barcelona, and Real Madrid, and he has confessed that he pondered leaving Bayern before signing a new contract.
“[England and Spain] are absolutely two leagues that I would like to play in one day,” Coman told the Daily Mail. I gave it a lot of thinking before we came to an agreement.
“I wanted to try something new but, in the end, I talked with [Bayern] and we found an agreement. I didn’t talk about anything but football and where we want to go together. For me, this was the best [option].
“It was between England and Spain because I wanted to try something that I haven’t done. So, France and Italy weren’t really an option.
“I really wanted to try something new, a different country, different people, a new league. Of course, the Premier League because it is the best league in the world and Spain because the weather is amazing.”
Coman refused to be drawn on exactly which club he would consider joining, but he has talked up three English teams that he admires.
“I would say in general the best teams. I’m someone who aims for the best. I really like the way Man City play, of course with [Pep] Guardiola,” Coman added. “I like the way Liverpool plays. I like Chelsea as a team, so I will say the three big teams.”
While Coman has ambitions to test himself in different countries, the Parisian-born winger is now focused on representing Bayern and hopes to achieve more success with the perennial Bundesliga winners.
“I felt like I had more to do here, so I decided to stay,” Coman explained. “My contract just began. I want to prove to the club that they were correct in believing in me and giving me this opportunity.
“After a while, if I feel like I’ve done my job again – or even more – then I might consider doing something else and moving to another nation.”
Coman had a heart condition at the start of the 2021-22 season, as well as a few minor injuries and contracting COVID-19, yet he still managed to register eight goals and six assists in 32 appearances across all competitions.
The 2018 World Cup champion will compete for a starting spot in Julian Nagelsmann’s lineup this season alongside the likes of Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane, and summer addition Sadio Mane.
