The senior team at Bayern Munich will play its second preseason leg in the United States. Two friendly matches versus DC United and Manchester City are scheduled for the German Champions. Except for striker Leon Goretzka, the entire team departed on Monday for the preseason trip. Goretzka’s unhappiness with his injury appears to be growing while he remains in Munich.
Goretzka will continue to reside in Munich, according to Bayern. The left knee of the German midfielder was anomalous. He underwent surgery to address this problem, and it was effective. Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports reports that Leon Goretzka will be out for six to eight weeks. Goretzka won’t be available for the opening month of the campaign.
It has been frustrating the last 12 months for Goretzka. He has consistently struggled with injuries. The German international missed a big part of last season’s Ruckrunde after suffering an injury against Borussia Dortmund at the start of December.
Goretzka was relieved after returning to action at the start of April. He ended the season strongly, but things are back to square one for him. Considering his previous knee problems, the German midfielder should avoid rushing a comeback. As things stand, he should be back by the start of September.
