The awards recognize the best talent in the region during the 2021/22 season, with nominees from both Manchester clubs included in four different categories.
Ronaldo and De Bruyne, along with Mohamed Salah, Jordan Pickford, and Josh Brownhill, have been named Premier League Player of the Season.
In the Women’s Player of the Season category, Alex Greenwood and Ella Toone have been included among five other nominees including Gabby George and Leanne Kiernan.
Toone has also been selected as one of seven potential winners of The Athletic Women’s Rising Star award, along with Lauren Hemp.
There are also 20 nominees for The Athletic Rising Star award, including Alejandro Garnacho and James McAtee, although they face competition from the likes of Harvey Elliott and Anthony Gordon.
Four other categories have been announced by the 2022 North-West Football Awards: Championship Player of the Season, League One Player of the Season, League Two Player of the Season, and National League Player of the Season.
The winners will be announced on Monday 7 November at the ceremony at The Point, Emirates Old Trafford.
