The expression “strengthening from a position of strength” is overused, but signing one of the world’s most prolific attackers just days after winning the Premier League for the fourth time in five seasons surely qualifies.
Erling Haaland will join Manchester City on July 1st, adding to Pep Guardiola‘s ever-growing collection of attacking options. Julian Alvarez, who joined the club in January, will join the Norweigan for pre-season with his teammates.
His great goal-scoring record speaks for itself, but fans all across the world are looking forward to seeing Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne together.
“They’ve always wanted a number nine, but I think it’ll be beneficial to have a striker who can score 20-25 goals per season.”
“Perhaps (his coming will help me as well),” De Bruyne added. “There have been years when I’ve had more assists” (than this season).
“But other elements, like my accidental invention, have remained consistent. Football is based on numbers, but they never tell the whole story.”
