According to talkSPORT, City has permitted the Dutch center-back to leave Manchester this summer, and Newcastle United is interested in signing him as they aim to push for a European spot next season.
If Ake joins Bournemouth, he will be reunited with Eddie Howe, who brought him to the club on loan in 2016. Before joining City for £41 million two years ago, Ake spent four years with the Cherries, appearing 121 times in all competitions, with much of his best form on the south coast coming under Howe.
During his two years at the Etihad Stadium, Ake has not been a regular for City. Despite being a part of two Premier League title-winning teams, the Dutch international defender has only made 24 games in the top division throughout his two years under Guardiola.
Despite sealing the permanent acquisition of Dan Burn from Brighton and Hove Albion in January, TalkSPORT claims that Newcastle are interested in moving the defender to the north east this summer. In January, Newcastle signed England right-back Kieran Trippier and Aston Villa left-back Matt Target, however Targett’s move was only on loan until the end of the 2021/22 season.
Newcastle have been connected with a number of different centre-backs ahead of the summer transfer window opening on June 10th.
