In light of Manchester United‘s interest in Kim Min-Jae, Napoli wants to cancel his release clause.
According to Calciomercato.it, Serie A leaders Napoli are looking to delete Kim Min-contract Jae’s release clause due to interest from Manchester United.
During the summer transfer window, the South Korean international joined the Italian club from Fenerbahce and has since played an important part at the heart of their defense.
The 26-year-old has started all but one of the club’s Serie A and Champions League games, and his development has piqued the interest of numerous prominent European clubs.
United is one of them interested and has reached out to his reps. Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested in him.
In the middle of all, it has been claimed that Napoli is resolved to cancel the €45 million foreign buy-out clause in his contract, which goes into effect between July 1 and July 15.
The Naples outfit wants to avoid losing their prized asset by committing him to a new long-term deal.
Harry Maguire is currently excelling for England at the World Cup finals in Qatar but there are genuine doubts over his future with United beyond the ongoing campaign.
The club captain is presently the fourth-choice center-back in the squad behind Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, and Victor Lindelof. Erik ten Hag is prepared to offload him next summer.
Min-Jae appears to be United’s top defensive target at the moment and they will be hoping that the South Korean snubs the option of canceling his release clause.
The former Fenerbahce man has won five duels per game for Napoli this season. He has been strong in the air and has also made nearly four clearances per appearance.
Min-Jae has also excelled in tackling and interceptions while completing 88% of his passes. Ten Hag could include him in the regular rotation next term.
With Raphael Varane‘s injury issues, it is evident that United requires the services of another quality center-back. If they can sign Min-Jae for €45 million, he will be a steal.
