The Serbia international joins Jose Mourinho’s side on a free transfer from Manchester United. After spells at Chelsea and Old Trafford, the coach and the midfielder will reunite for the third time.
According to Sky Sport Italia, the 33-year-old will arrive in Rome tomorrow to undergo a medical with the Giallorossi and sign a one-year contract.
The agreement includes the option to extend his contract with the club for another season. Matic is expected to earn €3.5 million at the Stadio Olimpico.
Roma had planned to have Matic’s medical in early July, but the club has reportedly changed its mind, anticipating the midfielder’s arrival in the capital.
Matic has appeared in 159 games for Mourinho, more than any other coach. He will take over for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who is set to join Inter on a free transfer.
