In Thursday’s Group A Europa League match, Arsenal will travel to Phillips Stadium to face PSV. After being held to a 1-1 draw by Southampton in the Premier League, the Gunners will be looking to take all three points in this European match. The English first-division leaders will be hungry to bounce back and win again in this match.
Mikel Arteta is expected to use a 4-3-3 formation but make numerous changes to his starting lineup for this away game. Eddie Nketiah will lead the attack against the opposition, with Matt Turner in goal.
4-3-3 Arsenal XI Vs PSV Eindhoven
Defense
Matt Turner will get the chance to operate in between the sticks for the Gunners hoping to earn a clean sheet and give out a strong performance. Gabriel will continue at the back but Rob Holding will replace William Saliba at the heart of Arsenal’s backline.
Kieran Tierney will get the nod over Takehiro Tomiyasu in the left-back position while Ben White fills in on the other side as the right-back. Both of them will have to keep a good defensive shape at the back and will get forward to stretch the opposition.
Saliba and Tomiyasu will provide cover for the defensive positions and could come on in the second half if required.
Midfield
Granit Xhaka, Albert Sambi Lokonga, and Fabio Vieira will form the midfield trio as they try to dominate the battle at the center of the park and distribute the ball efficiently to their teammates. Fabio Vieira will be tasked with creating some decent opportunities for others around him.
Martin Odegaard will be named on the bench and will be called into the match in the second half if required.
Attack
Gabriel Martinelli will continue on the left flank while Marquinhos gets the nod over Bukayo Saka as he hopes to produce an influential display from the right.
As mentioned earlier, Eddie Nketiah will lead the charge for Arsenal on the attacking end of the field. He will fancy his chances of finding the back of the net and getting his name on the scoresheet.
Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka will have to be content with a spot on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the latter stages if Arteta opts to call upon their services.
