Harvey Elliott, a midfielder for Liverpool, has spoken out ahead of the 2022–23 Premier League season.
Given his young age, the 19-year-old has made 20 first-team appearances for the club.
Elliott, though, has stated that he hopes to start games for the Reds on a regular basis this year.
“I’ve just got to prove myself to the manager and put myself in the best possible position to get minutes. I’m enjoying my football again and it’s my dream to be able to put on the shirt for this club,” he told The Athletic, as quoted by Anfield Watch’s Twitter account.
“I did a bit more in terms of fitness work this summer to ensure I was in the best possible position coming back. I lost a fair bit of weight in the off-season. I had a target last season, which I reached, and I’ve done it again.
“To be in and around those players, seeing how they warm up, seeing how they control games, it was an experience of a lifetime. I was really grateful for the opportunity.”
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Elliott possesses a superb mentality. The midfielder is also pretty talented. There is a reason why Elliott is in and around Jurgen Klopp’s world-class squad.
Therefore, we are confident that the 19-year-old will have a long and successful career at the highest level.
We just hope that Elliott can stay injury-free. The game is hard enough as it is. You do need a bit of luck along the way.
It will be interesting to see how often Klopp utilizes the Englishman this season. We wish Elliott all the best ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
