Roberto Firmino will leave Liverpool at the conclusion of the season, according to Jamie Carragher on Sky Sports Premier League (7:28 pm, August 22, 2022).
The former Liverpool player believes it is “quite evident” that Brazil international Firmino will not be re-signed.
Liverpool’s £180,000-a-week star (Spotrac) is out of contract in the summer.
Carragher made the remarks regarding Firmino before Monday night’s Premier League match between Manchester United and Liverpool at Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag’s side won 2-1.
In our view, it is almost inevitable that Roberto Firmino will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.
The Brazilian is 30 now and is out of contract at the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners next summer.
Firmino had injury issues last season, and Liverpool has signed Darwin Nunez to play as the number nine.
We do not see Liverpool paying over the odds in salary to Firmino to keep him at the club beyond the end of his current contract.
The Brazilian has been superb for Liverpool over the years, but his time at Anfield is coming to an end.
