Klopp welcomes back key midfielder Naby Keita back in training as Liverpool prepares for Nottingham Forest
The Guinean midfielder hasn’t played since July’s Community Shield victory over Manchester City.
The Reds have seven games in 21 days starting with Saturday’s trip to Nottingham Forest, so the midfielder’s return is welcome news for Jurgen Klopp.
The former RB Leipzig player has missed 72 games in four full seasons due to ankle, groin, and hamstring injuries.
The 27-year-contract old’s expires in less than a year, and he has so far stalled on a new deal because he wants assurances about playing time.
Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara, Jordan Henderson, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Keita are Liverpool’s midfield options right now, with Arthur Melo out until the new year.
Some fans have been asking for additions in the midfield department, so Keita’s demands might not be met, leaving him free to negotiate an Anfield exit if he does not get the minutes he feels his quality warrants.
