Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita has returned to full training following an injury, while Jurgen Klopp has sent a message to the ‘incredible’ Darwin Nunez.
Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Naby Keita is back in training, but Liverpool does not expect any of their injured players to be ready for Wednesday night’s match against West Ham United.
While Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold returned from injury last week, Diogo Jota suffered a serious calf injury against Manchester City, ruling him out of the World Cup.
Fortunately for Klopp, he had better news regarding the majority of his walking wounded as they all continue their respective rehabilitations, with Keita joining Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in recently returning to training. However, despite the England Under-21s international featuring on the bench against Man City, none of the trio is yet ready to play for the first team.
Jurgen Klopp has backed Darwin Nunez to score more goals for Liverpool as the Uruguayan continues to find his feet in the Premier League.
Having scored against both Arsenal and Rangers, the £64m summer signing was unable to get his name on the scoresheet after being reduced to substitute duty against Man City on Sunday. However, with Diogo Jota joining Luis Diaz as a long-term absentee, the 23-year-old is poised for an extended run in the Red’s starting XI in the pair’s absence.
Insisting it is rare for players to settle immediately both at Anfield and in the Premier League, Klopp hailed the 23-year-old’s impact for his side so far as he offered an insight into what he’s seeing from Nunez, who finish join-25th in this year’s Ballon d’Or, in training at the AXA Training Centre on a daily basis.
