Piotr Zielinski, a playmaker for Napoli, is expected to join Liverpool in the near future.
According to Italian agent Gianluca di Carlo, Zielinski would have “no difficulty” stepping up to a team like Real Madrid or Liverpool.
He presently has two years left on his current deal and, according to Transfermarkt, is worth about £36 million.
With Napoli falling short of the title last season, he played a key role featuring in 35 games and producing six goals and five assists from midfield.
He had been linked with a move in the past to Liverpool and Manchester City, but the 28-year-old seems set to stay in Italy for the time being.
With transfer links to Tottenham earlier this summer, he affirmed his commitment to Napoli when speaking to Sky Italia:
“I don’t understand where these rumors come from,” Zielinski claimed.
“I don’t think my adventure at Napoli will end this summer. I’ve got an important contract that will last another two years. I feel good in Naples. The desire to leave the club never came out of my mouth.
“I want to continue with Napoli because they are a great team.”
Liverpool has been linked with the forward in the past right at the start of Jurgen Klopp’s reign.
In 2016, the Merseysiders came perilously close to acquiring a young Zielinski from Empoli.
Even as a 22-year-old, the player was seen posing for photos wearing the Liverpool uniform.
That was before Napoli, in John Obi Mikel-style, grabbed Zielinski from under Klopp’s nose and completed a £13 million deal.
