Following Senegal’s Cup of Nations victory, Sadio Mane defeats former Liverpool teammate Mo Salah to win African Player of the Year, earning the prestigious honor for a second time.
After a season in which he kicked the winning penalty for Senegal as they won their first Africa Cup of Nations championship and repeated the feat when they qualified for the World Cup, Sadio Mane was named African Footballer of the Year on Thursday.
Mane finished ahead of Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah, his former Liverpool teammate, and fellow Senegalese Edouard Mendy in the voting.
