Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho are among the 40 finalists for the Golden Boy award in 2022.
The Liverpool duo are still in the running for the annual award, which recognizes the achievements of European football players under the age of 21.
The shortlist will be reduced to 20 players next month before the winner is announced later this year by organizers Tuttosport.
Liverpool: Harvey Elliott, Fábio Carvalho
Arsenal: Marquinhos
Man United: Anthony Elanga
Leeds: Wilfried Gnonto
Tottenham: Destiny Udogie (on loan at Udinese)
Wolves: Fábio Silva (on loan at Anderlecht)
In addition to a vote by fans, 40 journalists from Europe’s major media outlets, including L’Équipe, Marca, The Times, Bild, France Football, De Telegraaf, La Gazzetta dello Sport, and Blick, will help to decide the winner using a points system. In the previous year, Pedri of FC Barcelona received the award. The Spaniard followed on Man City’s summer signing of Erling Haaland, who played for Borussia Dortmund at the time.
