Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk‘s amazing Anfield record was stopped by a late winner by Leeds in the Premier League on Saturday.
Virgil van Dijk, a Liverpool defender, has lost a Premier League game at Anfield for the first time since joining the club in January 2018.
Crysencio Summerville‘s late winner handed Leeds a 2-1 win in Saturday’s late game, extending Liverpool’s poor start to the season.
It was the Reds’ first home defeat of the season, and Van Dijk’s first in the Premier League at Anfield, where he stood off Summerville previous to his late winner.
Van Dijk signed from Southampton in January 2018 and the Dutch defender had featured in 70 Premier League games at Anfield prior to this one.
In those 70 games, Van Dijk had helped Liverpool to 59 wins and 11 draws, but that record finally came to an end with a defeat to Leeds on Saturday.
Liverpool has now dropped 19 points in the Premier League this term, having let only 22 slip in the whole of last season.
